Wheelchair Accessibility of the Colosseum

The Colosseum is nearly 2,000 years old and remarkably, fully wheelchair accessible: you enter through the main entrance (with a side gate to bypass the turnstile), explore the lower level on a self-guided tour, and take an elevator to the upper tier to look down into the arena. Timed-entry tickets should be reserved in advance, and a visitor with a disability plus one companion enters free. It is crowded, but it is amazing how accessible this ancient facility has been made — and it sits within rolling distance of the Roman Forum, the Victor Emmanuel II Monument, and the Campo de’ Fiori food district.
